HULK/THING: HARD KNOCKS
#1-4 (Of 4)
Marvel
2004-2005
$3,50

Written by Bruce Jones and illustrated by Jae Lee

Nothing much is going on except building tone and mood without ever reaching a climax. The Thing seeks out the Hulk in the middle of the dessert talking about old times and fighting it out with the government looking in on them. This was Bruce Jones’ last take on the Hulk as he left the character and Marvel for an exclusive contract at DC. Originally a 1970s horror or mystery writer he was headhunted by Joe Quesada and Bill Jemas in 2001 taking over the INCREDIBLE HULK title from Paul Jenkins with #34 and #76 being his last. As this miniseries proved to become his last involvement with the title and character it is not exactly turning out as his best work despite an excellent Jae Lee providing some great visuals.
