Hans Sidén: Sadomasochism in comics: A history of sex and violence in comic books (A Greenleaf classic)
Og her er en kundes anmeldelse, set på amazon.com:
Sjovt nok udkom der en Joe Shuster kunstbog i 2009, der berørte samme tema:I first saw this book back in the early '70's when is was freshly published. Wish I had bought a copy THEN - as the price tag was $3.95! Nowadays, as a 'rare' esoteric volume, it commands a price generally pushing close to $100.00! Is it worth it?!? Well - if you're a devotee of all things weird & wonderful in the realm of sex and illustration - the answer is probably: "Hell, YEAH"!
As a 'period piece' of 'porn' the time frame of the book's original publication must be kept in mind. In our current age of 'anything goes' ultra hardcore internet erotica - it's hard to appreciate what some brave, old-school, publishers and film-makers had to do in order to get their product out and not end up in trouble w/ 'the Law'. In the same vein as porn movies that masqueraded as 'educational' fare - this exposition on S/M in the comics medium presents its' material under the guise of a scholarly examination of the phenomenon. Initially, 'context' is provided to illustrate the prevalence of sadomasochistic 'themes' throughout the ages in a 'forward' by some nebulous Phd personage - but then the bulk of the book focuses on more contemporary (1950's -70's) examples of the milieu.
